## Description
**About the job
About The Role -**

We are looking for an Accountant to own the books as transaction volume starts: ledger, month-end, payables and receivables, VAT, and audit readiness, so the CFO can spend time on treasury, partners, and the numbers that shape the business rather than on closing them.

Your first 90 days have three targets: take over the general ledger, chart of accounts, and month-end close; deliver the first close you own within 5 working days of month-end; set up AP/AR, expense, and payroll accounting workflows with proper approvals and documentation; produce the audit-ready file structure and the first VAT return you own.

**What You Will Do -**

- Books and close: Maintain the general ledger and run month-end and year-end close: accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany, and reconciliations of every balance-sheet account.
- Payables and receivables: Process vendor invoices and payments with correct approvals; issue merchant invoices and follow up receivables; reconcile bank accounts weekly.
- Statutory compliance: Prepare UAE VAT returns and support Corporate Tax filings; maintain documentation to the standard an auditor expects.
- Management reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis against budget, and cash reports for the CFO.
- Payroll and expenses: Process payroll entries and WPS files with People & Culture; run the expense claims cycle.
- Audit and controls: Own the audit file, respond to auditor queries, and maintain the controls register.

**Who You Are -**

- Experience: 3–5 years in accounting, at least 2 in the UAE, with hands-on month-end close experience
- Regulatory knowledge: Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements and WPS payroll
- Tools: Proficient in a cloud accounting system (Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or similar) and advanced Excel
- Discipline: Accurate, organised, and comfortable working to a close calendar
- Qualification: ACCA/CA/CMA part-qualified or qualified

**Bonus points if -**

- You have prior experience in fintech, payments, or a company with high transaction volumes and multi-currency accounts.
- You have prior exposure to external audit from the client side.
- You are familiar with settlement and merchant balance accounting.

**Where this role goes -**

- Accountant grows into Senior Accountant / Finance Manager as the entity structure and volumes expand, working alongside the FinOps Analyst and a future Treasury role.

**What Is Next -**

We aim to reply to every application within three business days, and our interview process usually takes around three to four weeks. It is a short, practical process: a real conversation, an exercise that looks like the actual job rather than a brain teaser, and time with the people you would work beside, founders included. Tell us if you need more flexibility at any stage.

**Our Take On Who Belongs Here -**

Our team has a vision that spans several nationalities, time zones, and payment traditions, and we think that is exactly why we will make good calls in cross-border payments. Whoever you are and wherever you are from, you are welcome to be yourself here.

- Industry: Financial Services
- Size: 11-50 employees

- Description: UniqPay is a cross-border payments technology platform based in Dubai, with teams distributed worldwide. We build the acquiring, payout, and currency-conversion technology that lets businesses move money across markets without rebuilding their stack for every corridor.

Marketplaces use our platform to pay out sellers, platforms to accept payments at scale, and companies to reach vendors in markets most providers do not cover.

Underneath every client the job is the same: help them move money quickly, keep it stable, and hold both as they scale.
