## Description
**Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.**


The dollar is the best product in the history of the world, with practically infinite global demand, but distribution is broken. Global clearing runs on legacy banks that are closed 115 days a year, built for humans and take two days to settle. Augustus is the update to the internet era. We received conditional approval from the OCC to charter America’s first stablecoin-native clearing bank that is always open, made for machines, at the speed of compute.


We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We're backed with $40M from Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, Creandum and founders of Ramp, Deel and Circle.


We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.

**The Role**

You own the end-to-end customer due diligence program for the US market. You design the logic that allows Augustus to move money safely at scale without compromising on speed.

You build the due diligence framework from the ground up: defining risk profiles, setting the standards for verification workflows, and making the final call on complex entities. You partner closely with Operations, who builds and runs the systems that execute your framework. You decide where we automate and where we intervene. Your goal is a frictionless yes for legitimate builders and a quick, hard no for bad actors.

 
**Your First Six Months**

Months 1-2: You dive deep into our compliance framework and the systems Ops runs to execute it. You'll master our internal CDD workflows, handle your first batch of complex entity reviews, and identify where manual intervention makes sense versus where encoded risk decisions can run themselves. You aren't just following a manual — you're learning the why behind every risk decision we make.

Months 3-4: You own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer due diligence. You partner with Ops to translate manual verification steps into automated workflows, setting the standards their tooling needs to meet. By now, you are making sure our tooling is making the right risk decisions and only getting involved where a human is necessary.

Months 5-6: You are the authority on how and why Augustus executes its due diligence operations this way. You've refined our risk scoring models and reduced time-to-onboard without compromising on rigor. You are no longer just executing the process - you are optimizing the engine that allows Augustus to scale its customer base safely.

You prefer to check the boxes and move on. CDD at Augustus requires deep investigative curiosity and the ability to spot patterns that automated systems miss.

You find frequent pivots in compliance tech or regulatory focus frustrating. Our roadmap moves fast, and your workflow will change with it.

You go silent when you're stuck. We move at a fintech pace and rely on you to flag bottlenecks or ambiguous edge cases immediately.

You view compliance as a hurdle rather than a product feature. You’ll be working closely with engineering teams to make onboarding both secure and seamless.

You are uncomfortable making high-stakes decisions with incomplete data. You'll need to trust your judgment and own the risk outcomes you sign off on.

**Hard Requirements**
3+ years of hands-on experience in CDD or KYC within a US fintech or bank.

Deep working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC regulations.

Direct experience performing deep-dive enhanced due diligence (EDD) the AML programs of other financial institutions and on complex corporate structures and UBOs.

Proven track record of using and improving automated onboarding verification flows using tools like Alloy, Middesk, or others.

Based in New York City or the Dallas area, or willing to relocate.

**Pay transparency:**
Compensation packages at Augustus include base salary, equity, and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise and geographic location. The annual US base salary range for this role is $80,000-$120,000 + equity.
