**About the Engagement**

We are building a production-grade AI product for enterprise customers.

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to lead a focused 4-week sprint. You will be the most senior technical person on the team, responsible for infrastructure decisions, backend architecture, and ensuring a four-person team ships a working production system by the end of the engagement.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will write production code daily while leading and unblocking three other developers.

Strong preference for candidates who:

- Have led sprint teams before
- Are comfortable working directly with a non-technical founder
- Can make architectural decisions independently and defend them clearly

**The Role**
On Day 1, you will:

- Set up infrastructure and deployment pipeline
- Define architecture and technical direction
- Assign tasks to the team
- Establish code review and production standards
- Throughout the sprint, you will:
- Personally build the core backend layer
- Review all code before production
- Debug cross-service issues
- Ensure the product ships on time
- This is not a coordination-only lead role. It is execution-heavy.

**What You Will Be Building**

A Python backend service powering an enterprise AI automation platform, including:

- RESTful API layer with authentication, session management, and role-based access
- Database schema design and migration management
- Encryption and key management for enterprise security
- Production deployment and environment configuration
- Immutable audit logging for compliance
- AI service integration layer (AI APIs + browser automation + frontend)
- AI API cost tracking and enforcement mechanisms


**Required Skills (Must Have)**

- 5+ years of Python backend development in production
- FastAPI (production APIs shipped)
- PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, migrations, performance tuning)
- Supabase or equivalent BaaS
- JWT authentication (implemented properly, not just wrapper usage)
- Cloud deployment (Railway, Render, Fly.io, or similar)
- Docker (local + production containerisation)
- Async Python (asyncio, background workers)
- Git workflows (PRs, branching, code reviews)
- Ability to independently debug cross-service failures

**Nice to Have**

- LangGraph or LangChain
- Redis (caching/session state)
- Row-level security in PostgreSQL
- Secrets management (Vault patterns, Supabase Vault)
- Experience leading time-constrained sprint teams
- Anthropic Claude or OpenAI API integration
- What Good Looks Like

**We are looking for someone who:**

- Can show 2+ production systems they personally built and deployed
- Has strong infrastructure opinions and can defend them
- Has debugged production failures that they did not introduce
- Uses AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf) to move fast
- Can explain technical decisions in plain language to a non-technical founder
- This role requires ownership, speed, and technical maturity.
