Everyone at Airbnb thinks about trust, but our team obsesses over it daily. At the core of trust is safety, and thus we spend a significant amount of our time and energy keeping the community safe. The Trust team is responsible for protecting our community and platform from fraud while also ensuring our hosts, guests, homes, and experiences meet our high standards. We constantly work to fight against online fraud (such as monetary loss, compromised accounts, spam and scam in messages, fake inventory, etc.) as well as offline fraud (theft, property damage, personal safety, etc.). We also work on onboarding and screening of users, and think about complex topics like identity and reputation to ensure that every interaction with Airbnb helps build trust in our community and us. Trust Engineering is responsible for the technology vision and development of a complex stack that runs on every key interaction on the platform.

As part of the Trust Engineering team, you will work in a team of talented software engineers to help us build intuitive & delightful experiences, strengthen our current offerings, and deliver new products to strengthen our Trust defences. You will play a significant role in shaping the technical vision and delivering flexible, efficient and scalable solutions to stay on top of the ever evolving attack vectors and make Airbnb the safest and most trusted community. There are still many unsolved problems to tackle in both online and offline risk, and we're looking for talented engineers to solve these challenges with us.

**A Typical Day: **

- Implement and operate resilient and scalable distributed systems

- Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, operations and data scientists, identify opportunities for business impact, understand, refine, and prioritise requirements for engineering systems, drive engineering decisions, and quantify impact.

- Hands-on prototype, develop, productionize, and test solutions and defences to existing and emerging fraud trends.

- Support teammates in enabling code quality, operational excellence, and shared learning

- Be part of an impactful team working on scaling distributed applications in a highly-available 24x7 environment, making architectural trade-offs, applying design patterns and disciplinedexecutiono.n

Partner with other engineering teamatin Airbnb to serve our users holistically.

**Your Expertise:**

- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience

- 3-5 years industry experience

- Strong hands-on coding, data structures and algorithm experience using Java or Kotlin.

- Exposure to architectural patterns of high-scale web applications, such as well-designed APIs, data pipelines

- Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products (or systems).

- Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.

- Experience or desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product and data science partners

- Passionate about AI with experience and a strong grasp of current trends in Generative AI, LLMs, and related technologies.

- Experience with the Trust and Risk domain is a plus.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range shown below is aannualised is inclusive of allowances and is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for a bonus or incentives, one or more equity programs, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

India Annual Pay Range
